ABOUT ME

Dr Mehran Ali Hashmi

GDC Number: 286719
Originally from Scotland, I have spent many years dedicated to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, benefiting from extensive education, rigorous training and intensive clinical experience in hospital settings. In October 2023, driven by significant personal experiences, I shifted my focus to Dentistry.
As a committed and ambitious dentist, I strive for excellence in dental care, continually seeking to enhance my knowledge and skills.
I am currently practicing dentistry while advancing my expertise through postgraduate training at the prestigious King’s College Dental Institute London (QS Rank 5 in the world for Dentistry).
My aim is to specialise in full mouth rehabilitation, targeting complex cases. My rich surgical background supports my progression into these sophisticated areas of dentistry, to offer comprehensive and high quality care to all my patients.
Alongside my clinical duties, I engage in research and present at high-profile international forums.
Outside of my professional activities, I enjoy graphic design, exploring new cultures through travel, and avidly following Formula 1 racing.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ST2),

I managed a wide array of cases involving facial and dental trauma, extensive wounds, head and neck infections, and oncology. I also provided consultations and referrals across Rotherham, Doncaster, Worksop, North Sheffield, and Mexborough. My responsibilities included performing emergency surgeries for facial trauma and swelling, both independently and mentored, and partaking in complex procedures in theatres, such as osteotomies, skin and oral cancers, head and neck cancers, complex dental extractions, temporomandibular joint procedures, and salivary gland surgeries. I had the privilege and honour via these experiences to work and be mentored by some of the most talented surgeons in the United Kingdom.
I also performed minor oral surgeries, including complex dental extractions (referred in by dentists in the region), botox injections for TMD, and biopsies under local anaesthesia. I also handled outpatient reviews and assessments, provided mentorship to junior staff and students, and coordinated the rota for the Rotherham OMFS team.
During the Covid-19 pandemic from March to July 2020, I was redeployed to the anaesthetics team, managing close contact and care for critically ill patients in critical and intensive care.
